Under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques’ Advisor and prince of Makkah Region, his royal highness, prince Khaled Al-Faisal, Umm Al-Qura University Rector, professor Moaddi Bin Mohammad Aal Madh-hab, inaugurated today Umm Al-Qura Series for Teaching Arabic Language to Non-native Speakers, simultaneously with the Arabic Language International Day to become an educational curriculum designed by an academic institution, and distinguished for combining both the classical and electronic methods of education in accordance with the highest international standards.
The dean of the Institute of Teaching Arabic Language to Non-native Speakers, Professor Hasan Bukhari, explained that the Series is the product of ongoing hard work for over 5 years of writing, revising and distributing language skills among all parts of the Series, with the aim of designing a curriculum that may achieve the University prospects of teaching Arabic Language and propagating its sciences worldwide. He also highly appreciated the University Rector’s concern and care to stage training courses for Arabic Language teachers in their home Muslim countries abroad, or inside the Kingdom on Umm Al-Qura University campus.
The Series consists of 4 educational parts, each of which has a student book and a teacher book, plus an Arabic monolingual dictionary and a multifarious series of graded stories. It was written by a group of best experts of the Institute’s faculty as a part of a documentary designated to build up a curriculum for teaching Arabic Language to Non-native Speakers that conforms to an integrated curriculum in language teaching and subsuming all language elements and skills in a framework of Islamic civilization, dispersing them over all parts of the Series of different types to achieve the best targeted educational outcomes, and including audiovisual attachments to all units in a technical style pertaining to the pages of the books.
